We have received a record number of scholarship applications for this year’s convention in Denver, CO! We are thrilled that so many families have found Friends, and while we are offering more scholarships than we ever have before, we are still unable to meet the needs fully.
Can you help with a “just in time” fundraiser to help young people who stutter and their families attend the convention? 100% of funds raised will go towards scholarships.
“My child has stuttered all of his life but feels alone. He has experienced bullying for years due to his stuttering and has become withdrawn. We are working on confidence but he has never met another child who stutters.
It would be incredibly impactful for our family to attend Friends, meet other people who stutter, and experience a sense of belonging.”
– Scholarship Application by a Parent of a Child Who Stutters
We have received dozens of letters just like this one. We know how deeply impactful this weekend can be for kids who stutter and their loved ones. Help us raise $15,000 so we can make the convention a reality for most if not all of the families who have applied for financial assistance.
Every single dollar helps. Here is a detailed breakdown of where the dollars go:
About Us
Friends is a 501(c)(3) non-profit support organization created to provide a network of love and support for children and teenagers who stutter, their families, and the professionals who work with them. Our vision is to help build a world in which all young people who stutter feel empowered to communicate whenever, wherever, and however they want to.
Research has shown that kids and teens who have attended a Friends Convention have significantly less adverse reactions to speaking, and stuttering has a significantly less negative impact on their lives. Our programs provide young people with tools to empower themselves, support one another and learn to live well with stuttering.
Friends is established as a non-profit, tax-exempt charitable organization under section 501(c)3. 100% of your donations are tax-deductible.
If you stutter, you have Friends.
